Trying to find that perfect wedding site...
We've been going to places where we might want to get married and have the reception. At least we're doing both in the same place. Also, since we're having such a
small wedding, it eliminated a lot of places we would have wanted to look at if we were having more people. We should know what's going on by the end of next week and have a wedding date and location finalized. That'll be a relief!
It seems that we found a dress that my sister and I both like for her to wear as my maid of honor, which is great! It comes in
tons of colors, so there will surely be many that she and I both like. I'm letting her pick, since I want her to be able to wear it again and enjoy wearing it at the wedding.
I think I may have found the dress I want, but I found it online and let me tell you this if you're planning on looking online instead of in stores first for your wedding gown:
Be prepared! Of course, I had to fall in love with a gown that no one in southern California seems to have ordered the sample of and (also, of course) no one is willing to order it for me to see unless I agree to pay for the dress no matter what. Yikes! Still working on it, but if any of you know a magical wedding dress jeanie, please send them my way!
At least everything else is going smoothly. Thank goodness!

Busy busy...
It's been a while...
We've been very busy dealing with the insurance people. The good news is - they found my car. The bad news? Their definition of "good condition" and mine are not exactly the same thing... But, I'm getting my beautiful car back (should be by next Thursday - crossing our fingers)! Then, I get to drive the car pool for a month or so to make up for my friend
Kathy driving this whole month. But, it'll be great to have my car back.
David has been dealing with meeting up with all the different adjusters and dealing with them on the phone. He's so wonderful about that! Tomorrow, he has to meet the idiot who's in charge of our stuff (the biggest claim). Hopefully, she'll be more impressive in person than she's been on the phone so far.
There is still a lot to buy, but we're working on it little by little.
We've also been working on trying to find a wedding location. There are so many locations that seem to fit what we're looking for in southern California, but the fact that we're having a very small wedding does eliminate some of them from the list. So many places have large minimums on weekends. It makes sense, but it's still a bummer. Oh well, it limits the search some, which is
definitely a good thing.
Okay, enough rambling - back to watching the Yankees. I really hope they pull this out. I'm amazed that the series has gone this way. I knew Boston would be tough, but once we won the first three, I thought we were okay...

Burglary :-(
The day of my last blog (in fact, around the time of it, since the first email my laptop didn't pick up due to being closed was at 1:55 PM), we were burglarized -
AGAIN! The second time in under 6 months. Are we ready to move? You bet! I can't wait for those models to open up next month. Unless we don't like any of the style of these, I am determined to make sure we move as soon as possible, which will probably be the second phase, since some builders are already starting to build.
Last time we were burglarized, they only took my laptop (which was old and we wanted to replace it), my diamond earrings (not the best and yellow gold - they skipped the good tanzenite earrings right next to them), and the old camera (they skipped the new camera, which was in the camera case they threw on the couch. This time, they took almost everything. They took the Tivo, the other DirectTV tuner, two DVD players, two VCRs, almost all my t-shirts, David's dress shirts and old flannels, the new camera, the new laptop, TONS of CD's in my CD case, the cartridge for David's car CD player, chargers for everything, the comforter, and... (this is the best part) they took it all in
MY CAR!!! Kathy had driven that day, so I didn't have it. They also took the Acura books, so we had to rekey David's car, since they had the extra key for that, too. We had to rekey the house and the mailbox and (needless to say), we've had an alarm installed. Thankfully, alarms now come with transmitters like car alarm remotes to turn the system on and off. It makes life so much easier. Sure, my keys will be even bulkier, but it's a small price to pay for the security that the alarm will bring.
It's going to take ages to settle with the insurance company. It took a couple weeks last time and there was almost nothing on it. This time, so much was taken and some of it was so old that we don't have receipts any more... It's craziness.
People keep asking if we know when we're going to get married... *sigh* We were JUST starting to think about that when the burglary happened and we've really had no time to think about it. I agree that we do need to pick a date sometime soon (especially since David's godparents are waiting to plan their next trip around it), but there has been so much to deal with for the burglary that there's been no time. It's going to be a LONG time before we can manage to replace everything that was taken and some things (like the Hedberg autographed shirt) can't ever be replaced.
The one cop pointed out that the burglar was almost a Darwin Award winner, since he almost electricuted himself by cutting the cables of electronics that were still plugged in. Not sure why he did that instead of unplugging everything, but he left a burn mark on our knife, which he used to cut some plugs and all the coax cables. He also managed to move the 36" TV (hard to move with two guys) some. If he'd moved it enough to get it off the shelf, he could have crushed himself to death. Would have been much cooler to come home to the Darwin Award winner than to come home with everything gone!
The good news is that all of us are okay. The kitties are healthy and happy and David and I weren't around.

Engagement!!
Before I get into any more details about the Philly/NYC trip, I have to say this...
On Wednesday,
David proposed!!! Yup, that's right.
David and I are ENGAGED! I know that no one is really surprised by this event, but it's still exciting. The ring is beautiful! A solitaire marquis diamond set in platinum with a knife edge. Apparently, he had planned on asking me to marry him in Philly with James and Becki both around, but James got sick and met up with us in New York instead, so David asked me at Dad's apartment in NYC when we were alone and getting ready to leave one morning. Very sweet!
Everyone is asking if we've set a date yet, so I'll answer that question here, too.
No. All we know at this point is that we want a very small wedding in a beautiful location (probably southern California due to the business and David's nieces). There are so many things to discuss now that it's official. I'll keep you all posted. And perhaps one of these days I'll set up the Robbins Brothers engagement/wedding page.
Okay, enough of the engagement talk for now...
It was great to finally meet
Rowan and to see Becki and Neale again. Rowan is a doll! It had been
so long since I'd seen Becki & Neale. They got to meet David, too, which was great.
New York was (as always) wonderful! Brooklyn (the musical) and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, and Reckless were all great shows. I was shocked to discover that I Love You... has been there for over 7 years. I can't believe it took me that long to get to it. Definitely need the CD's for Brooklyn and I Love You... Dracula was much improved from the La Jolla premiere. It's amazing what money can do for special effects. The flying effects are out of this world. It may be panned by the critics, but the whole crowd loved it (more than I did, actually). It's still not something I need to own (first Wildhorn musical I haven't wanted to buy on CD), but worth seeing. The Frogs was better than I expected. The jokes were very good and the cast was amazing. The music was just pretty bad overall. It is an old Sondheim show, though, and everyone has bad years, right? Worth seeing for Nathan Lane, Roger Bart, Steve Wilson (who went to Penn State when James and I were there), and the rest of the cast. I'll probably get that CD eventually, too - for the couple good songs and because Steve Wilson is on it. Always cool to know someone on a Broadway CD, even if you didn't know him that well.
I think I've rambled enough for today, so I'll submit this now. Take care and thanks to everyone for the good wishes!
