What a great hockey game!
What a great game. Only one overtime period, but another interesting hockey game. Carolina was the first team to win two in a row in this series. Will that change the way the rest of the series plays out? I can't wait to see! Definitely exciting hockey time!
X-Men: The Last Stand was a great movie, though I'm sure if you're into the X-Men you've already seen it. My review is up at my review blog (
Kat Views).

Na na na na, na na na na... hey hey hey, goodbye!
Woo-hoo! The Ducks are HISTORY! And they've played their last game as the "Mighty Ducks"... Needless to say, we were the only ones in the bar we went to happy with the outcome of the game, but it was beautiful!
I think it's hilarious that coming back from the 2nd intermission they were talking about how the team scoring first had won every game in the series so far. They neglected to mention that for the first time in the series the team scoring
SECOND was in the lead! I thought this was the key in the game, but apparently the oh-so-intelligent OLN commentators didn't even consider this. As usual, I was less than impressed with the OLN announcers, but at least the Oilers finished off the Ducks!
I'm so glad it's a three day weekend so that we have a bit more time to relax and still get some things done. Have a great weekend!

Damn Ducks...
Not only did my massage last night back fire (I'm hurting now in places that didn't even get hurt in my fall - argh!), but the Ducks actually beat the Oilers today. AND, my husband doesn't see the point of spending money on playoff tickets when they're not even our teams. I get that, I really do... But I love playoff hockey... Oh well, life goes on. We'll go to a cool bar and watch the Oilers end the series.
At least it was a pretty exciting game once the Oilers started to score. It kills me that their "Giggy" has their only win in this series. Must make Bryzgalov a little nervous about his future, though I still think he's a better goalie. I guess the pressure was just a bit too much for the Oilers tonight.
The Oiled Duck hat in the crowd was my highlight of the night, in spite of the fact that it's not exactly environmental or animal friendly.
Hopefully, Saturday's game will be another great game and the Oilers will end it.
GO OILERS!!!Labels: hockey, NHL

Hockey, movie reviews, etc.
Someone posted to my
Kat Views blog that I should put my reviews on
Film Crowd, which I had never heard about. It's still in the beta phase, but it's a really great site with movie reviews. I think once more people discover it, it'll be the place to go for reviews. It's
very well laid out!
The Oilers/Ducks game ended the way I wanted it to last night and the 3rd period couldn't have been more exciting! The Oilers were winning 1-0 going into the third and 4-0 before the Ducks scored their first goal, but they only won the game 5-4. Craziness! This is why I love playoff hockey! It's the best! Fortunately, the Oilers never lost their lead, but the Ducks did make it a game in the end.
Sweep! Sweep! I'd love to see the Oilers win at home on Thursday and end the series with a sweep over the Ducks. It'd be so perfect for them to win in front of their fans. But, if they don't win there, they'll come here on Saturday and I could see them finish the Ducks off. I'm a bit torn, honestly...
We watched the series finale of Alias last night and I was happy that they did the show justice by wrapping up all the loose ends and yet still leaving a few questions about the future. Maybe they'll do an Alias movie someday... I'm so glad 24 had an amazing season finale and will be back again next year. If both of those shows ended, I'd be so upset!

I got to talk to Eklund!
I just got off the phone with Eklund,
Hockey Buzz! I figured from his blog that he had to be a pretty cool guy and I wasn't disappointed. I got to hear so many amazing stories about things that went on behind the scenes this year! It's crazy how much he knows about hockey behind the scenes, since he has so many friends in high places. It was so cool to just talk to him and hear some of these stories. I am really going to enjoy getting a chance to work with him and get to post blogs on Hockey Buzz as the Kings blogger. I'm really excited about this opportunity - and all because someone threw a beer on me for cheering for the team that was beating the Ducks! Funny how this world works sometimes. There is so much going on in the world of the Kings this off season, since our entire management team is being replaced (starting at the top with our GM and coach). It's a fun time to start writing about the Kings in a blog that's visited by so many people!
I'm looking forward to the game tonight. I'd love to see the Oilers sweep the Ducks, though Eklund pointed out the fact that they do have the weight of the expectations of all of Canada on them, in addition to being favored to win by a
lot, which might make them too cocky to win tonight. I hope not, but either way, it should be a very exciting game tonight!
GO OILERS!
Fry the Ducks!

Bye-Bye, Ducks!
Couldn't be happier about last night's Oilers win over the "Mighty" Ducks. Duck season is going well. Now, the Ducks go into Edmonton, where they haven't won since '99. It's been a 12-game losing streak at Edmonton for them and now it's the playoffs, where the fans will be louder and much more excited. End of the line for the Ducks.
Those OLN announcers who talked about how well rested the Ducks would be and how they were going to kill the team they played in the first game must feel pretty stupid now that the series started exactly the way I (and many others who know the history of the NHL & the Ducks in the playoffs) predicted.
The Da Vinci Code was decent, but definitely didn't live up to what they could have done with it. It just seemed to lack the intensity and drive of the book. Definitely worth seeing, but could have been done much better.
Between watching the girls this weekend, getting to bed late last night so that we could see The Da Vinci Code, and my aching joints, I'm very sleepy right now. Definitely not going to watch Alias and 24 tonight. We'll watch 24 tonight and pretend that Alias is on tomorrow. I'd like to be in bed before Alias ends, since I need sleep!

Duck Season!
As expected, the Oilers beat the Ducks last night. They had me worried by not taking many shots in the beginning of the game. When they scored the first goal, I was thrilled. For about a minute - till the Ducks tied the game... Fortunately, the Oilers went on to win the game 3-1! One down, 3 to go. Duck season has begun! Kill the Ducks!
Baby sitting the girls has been fun, though they get up a lot earlier than David and I do on weekends... and they're not too good at getting along or playing quietly when you're trying to rest still.
At least I'm starting to feel a little better, but I'm still sore and ready to be feeling totally better. Being sore is definitely not fun!
I got to talk to Craig last night for the first time in
ages. It was so good to catch up with him and I'm thrilled that he's going to be able to see Lestat with us in October. He says he'll probably have more free time then to hang out and perhaps go to other shows with us, but he always seems to find another job that works him to death, so for now I'll just cross my fingers that we get to see him a bit more than usual. Hanging out with him, James, Dad, and (hopefully) Lisa will be great. We've never all been in the city at the same time before.
Today's game doesn't really matter to me, but tomorrow it's time to root for the Oilers again! (And see The Da Vinci Code, since it just opened yesterday.)
Go Oilers! Kill the Ducks!

Center Theatre Group response...
I did write the letter to the CTG to complain about
The Black Rider and I got a letter back saying the person who chose it had seen it, loved it, etc. (To each their own..) Anyway, they offered to refund our money for the show, which I think is great and I'll call the guy's assistant with my credit card number tomorrow to take care of that.
Of course, after I finished reading the letter, I noticed that it was addressed to Ms. Kathy (my maiden name) and Mr. David (my last name).
EXCUSE ME?!?!?? Are they serious? A. I changed my name not long after I got married and they have mailed me things to the correct last name. B. (this is really the most important one) the letter was (of course) signed with my
correct name (it was even on letterhead that spelled it out at the top "Kathy & David _________" - definitely going to complain about the assistant (who's clearly the one who wrote the letter and prepared it for the signature) being a totally unobservant idiot who didn't even
READ the letter or who it was from. I'll also complain that clearly the CTG/Ahmanson Theatre, whomever, has my name listed incorrectly in at least one system even though I've gotten mail to the right name. Man, am I glad that we didn't renew our season tickets there! They can't even get my name right when apologizing to me.
PATHETIC!Is anyone else as sad as I am about Alias going away Monday night? I'm so sad it's ending, but at least that should be one finale that'll be really well done. Alias series finale and 24 season finale all in one night - too much show for one night! Thank goodness for Tivo. What did we do without it?
I'm slowly improving from my fall last week, though I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with how sore I still am. At least I'm getting well enough that I can really enjoy the weekend baby sitting our adorable nieces! I want to be able to be fun Aunt Kathy, not an Aunt Kathy in pain... Just a couple more days till our weekend with the girls!

Mission: Impossible III - worth the trip
I thought
Mission: Impossible II was better than the first one and
Mission: Impossible III is even better! I definitely recommend catching it in theaters for the special effects! If you're interested in my full review, check it out at my review blog:
Kat Views.
Penn State's volleyball team was in the NCAA finals today (after beating UCI in the semi-finals on Thursday). Unfortunately, they lost in a shutout to UCLA. :-( Apparently, Penn State has been to the NCAA playoffs more than any other team except for UCLA, but UCLA has now won 19 championships and Penn State has only won 1. Perhaps next year things will work out better for Penn State or UCI. It'd be great to see both teams do well, since I went to PSU and work at UCI.
Here's hoping the Ducks get killed by Colorado tomorrow. I couldn't even stomach watching the whole game last night. I'm glad we decided not to get tickets, since we'd already had a long week.
