Through rain, sleet... but NOT slurry coating
Yesterday, when we got home from the show we saw, I discovered that our mail man is too lazy to deliver mail to our short (for those of you who haven't seen my street, it's only about 7 houses on each side and this is southern California, they're not far apart) street when the street couldn't be driven on, since it was being slurry coated. It's not like my neighborhood in Pennsylvania where there were no sidewalks. We have sidewalks - he could have gotten to the mailboxes. He just chose not to. I guess I should know better than to expect him to - no one walks in southern California. Fortunately, we had nothing urgent going out in the mail, but it was still annoying.
In good news, our bathroom project is finally done (just needs wallpaper we haven't picked yet). The mirrors are really cool and everything is great. Now that they want their final payment, perhaps they'll address David's issues with the discount they thought was fair since he had to completely re-do the heated floor and the money he saved them because he was smart enough to a. know that the installer messed up and b. fix it before the tile was put in, since they would have had to tear everything out and re-do it if he hadn't.
Our built-in cabinets upstairs are being installed this weekend, which is cool. The LCD screen that'll go on the wall in that room won't be bought for years, but at least the surrounding wall will look great. :-)
We got our pre-season tickets for the Kings today. Hockey starts next month!!! Yippee! And, the Yankees are doing great for the end of the season and it looks like the playoffs will be set up pretty well for them. Perhaps this will finally be the year that the Yankees win the world series this millennium!

Master Bathroom
Finally! Last night, I actually used our new shower! David fixed the water pressure on the massager and will fix the water pressure on the main shower head soon, but the shower works! It's wonderful! Just a couple minor things that need to be fixed in the cabinets, but nothing major. We can move in completely to the master shower and closet this weekend and leave the guest bedroom/temporary closet and guest bathroom behind! So exciting!
Just saw
Inside Man last night and I
highly recommend it. My
Kat Views review blog will have my review.
The book
Lifescripts for Family and Friends... is really interesting. It seems to cover almost every awkward situation that can come up in relationships and I found it interesting to skim. Of course, I've faced some of these already and it was interesting seeing how it said I should handle them. Not a bad idea as a reference book for when you have kids, it seems, too. Just might have to buy this one someday.
I'm really excited about moving into our beautiful new bathroom and closet with all of our stuff this weekend. It'll be nice not to have to walk to the other side of the house to get ready in the morning and to be in such beautiful rooms as I get ready!

So close...
The bathroom is really close to being done. As of yesterday, all the plumming works, so at least we can go to the bathroom without going to the other room. They're finishing the grout on the back splash today, putting up the last towel rack & some cabinet finishing touches today and the grout will be sealed tomorrow, then we can start moving back into our bathroom. :-)
I suppose we could move the closet stuff now, since David took apart the thing he used to keep the Kitties out of the bathroom yesterday and we can go through the bathroom to get to the closet, but until we shower over there, it seems to make sense to keep the clothes closer to where we shower.
The master bathroom and closet are both really looking amazing. I can't wait to start using them in a few days!

Reiley's Corner Blog
My friend Craig just revamped his
freakwind.com website. It now follows
Reiley's Corner (his latest novel) in the style of a DVD commentary for the novel. If you know Craig or NYC, I highly recommend checking it out. Craig's a good writer and it should be very interesting as time goes on!

Wedding Album (finally)
Well, our first anniversary is next month (I can't believe in a little over month and a half it'll 1 year since that beautiful day in Huntington Beach!) and I
FINALLY really sat down and got a rough draft of my album together for
Bella Pictures. I was really
shocked at how easy it was... Eliminating pictures was difficult (especially when it came to the most adorable flower girls of all time), but once I had it trimmed down to about 50 pictures more than I actually used (some of which I knew I'd use the one oriented in the way I wanted a picture to be at that point or would use just some of them as background, etc.), it really went very quickly.
I used the Bella Pictures' sample albums to find the things I loved most and the ideas I wanted to incorporate into our album, then I started putting pictures together (in the order of the day for the most part, but with most of the posed pictures towards the end). I had the first rough draft done in a couple hours and fine tuned it the next day. After going over it with David (who I don't think really cares about how it's laid out at all), we're ready to send the person who will be creating our album my first real draft of ideas.
We get a 30 page album in our contract and we've decided to spend the money to upgrade it to 12 x 12. I didn't think this was necessary at first, but it's not much money and those 2 extra inches on top and right can really make a difference in how good the pictures look. We'll have it forever, so why not? We'll also add 4 sheets (or 8 pages), making it a 38 page album. I don't know how much they charge for that, but it can't be so much that it won't be worth it so that we can have all the pictures that are important to us from our big day in one place.
It's strange that I kept putting this off and never finding the time for it and then it didn't take too long when I got to it. The whole process was just so daunting and with no help from my husband (which I understand is pretty typical), eliminating pictures of people I just met that one day seemed even harder than eliminating pictures of those I know well (with the exception of the girls, clearly).
I'm so glad that the process can move forward and I'm sure Bella Pictures will be shocked that I finally worked on it a serious amount. They've extended my "deadline" for ordering twice now, thankfully.
Now, I can't wait to see the draft they show me online!
