Sore Losers at Mighty Ducks game...
Those of you who know me will probably not be too surprised that we were lucky enough to be sitting next to some of the only totally pathetic sore losers I've seen at the Pond tonight in Anaheim. I wasn't wearing a Flames jersey (I don't own one and can't imagine that I ever will), but I was rooting for them for a few reasons... 1. I'm a Kings fan and want the "Mighty" Ducks out of the playoffs. 2. I've always liked Andrew Ference and I like seeing his team do well. and 3. David's godparents (and their family) live in Calgary.

Anyway... I was in my Penguins Mario Lemieux jersey that's autographed by a bunch of guys on the team at that time (Andrew Ference included) and rooting for the Flames. The Flames scored the first goal and I jumped up and cheered. When the Ducks tied it up, the chicklet next to me was cheering right in my face... Annoying and probably uncalled for, but not a big deal.

As of the second period when the Ducks had penalties called on them, she was swearing up a storm. At the second intermission, Sharon was pretty shocked and offered to change seats with me, but I told her I could handle a bit of swearing.

In the third period, when the Flames scored 2 goals in their first two shots of the period, the chicklet & her boyfriend were swearing at me, calling me names, etc. The best was them telling me to go back to Canada and Pittsburgh. Not sure where they took geography classes, but I must have missed the part where Pennsylvania became part of Canada. Hmmmm... Anyway, I got sick of being called names and sworn at, so at the next whistle I left to complain to the pond's staff. As I got up to the pond guy, the chicklet next to me threw her beer at me, soaking my left side and even hitting the guy who works at the pond and the people in the section in front of the stairs. Craziness.

The chick then tried to say I spilled her beer, which I found totally hilarious. They had made it so that even the guy who worked at the pond and people in other sections could identify the people who were being jerks.

The annoying brats were allowed back into the section after a while and got support from the people in front of us "she was annoying us, too," etc. I didn't swear once, I never even said the Ducks or anyone on their team (like "Jiggy") sucked, which I believe they really were. Classic case of a bunch of people who probably can't name 5 people on "their team" not being able to handle the reality of losing.

Give me a break. Losing on home ice happens - even in the playoffs. If you can't handle someone rooting for the other team, don't go to the game. When I root for the other team, I expect to get harassed and I can take it, but calling people names and swearing at them is uncalled for. Whatever happened to being a good sport? Very sad the way "fans" act. True fans rarely do pathetic things like that. Granted, these young people had a lot to drink, but that's no excuse in my opinion.

Right now, I'm watching the end of the Oilers/Red Wings game. I hope the Oilers win this one. And I hope they do it soon - my head hurts and I showered the icky cheap beer off, I'm ready for bed.

OOOH! Another funny note for those of you who know me well. David pointed out the Angels game being in the 9th inning with the Angels behind (meaning there would be a bottom of the 9th), which is not cool when you're at a game in the pond, which is right down the street. Definitely affects traffic. The guys next to us left at that point and were telling everyone that we're Angels fans and that's why we're so messed up. Huh? No, we're not Angels fans, idiot. We're just smart enough to know that the game right down the street letting out at the same time the game you're at does is not a good thing for traffic. Duh... lol My Yankees won tonight, unlike the Anaheim teams. ;-)

Woo-hoo! The Oilers won it in double overtime!!! I hope if you like hockey you were able to watch that one!

Interesting site
I'm reading a book called Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking right now and finding it very interesting. One of the things discussed are the snap judgements people make and the tests that demonstrate this. When I saw that Harvard had IATs (Implicit Association Tests) online, I just had to check them out. If you're interested, check out the IATs. The author of the book I'm reading (Malcolm Gladwell) said he was always a little disturbed when he did the race IAT. So, being the person I am, I had to log on and try them out. I was pleasantly surprised by my results to the race test and the sexuality test. I haven't gone through to do them all yet, but it's very interesting. Perhaps it's the psychologist in me - who knows? I found it very interesting, though.

Take the Lead
Anyone who enjoys dance should see Take the Lead. I highly recommend it. The true story is wonderful and it's amazing how many lives have been touched by one man who wanted to make a difference. (If you're interested in my full review, check out my Kat Views blog.)

Loving the NHL playoffs so far! If Detroit had lost instead of won in the 2OT game yesterday, it'd be perfect so far. Of course, the fact that they just barely beat a team that squeaked into the playoffs is enough to give me confidence that they won't win the cup again and that's good. If my teams can't get into the playoffs, I have to enjoy them somehow.

I just finished reading The Gilded Chamber. I highly recommend that, too.

Today, David and I drove around after lunch looking at some of the new housing neighborhoods and we've chosen the basic color scheme for re-painting our house. This might not sound like much, but unlike most of southern California, we're lucky enough not to be in an association that limits our color scheme choices. Sometime, look at the whole Dunn Edwards color book and you'll get an idea of why this was so difficult. Narrowing down the colors is a huge step and I'm very happy we've been able to do that much! The rest will have to wait till after our trip next weekend, but since we haven't set a date for painting yet, it's all good.

Check out one red paper clip!
I saw this article on CNN (Man using Web to barter paper clip for house) and had to read it. After reading it, of course, I checked out his blog http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com.

If you haven't read the article yet, you have to check it out.

I really think he's done a lot to show that you can accomplish almost anything you want if you believe that it can be done. Believing in yourself goes a LONG way. I wish Kyle the best of luck and think it's amazing how much you can do on the internet these days.

Happy Passover
I know it's technically not Passover till sundown (and lately that's been really late), but I wanted to wish everyone a happy Passover anyway. David and I get to see his parents, Renee's family, and (of course) the girls tonight. Always fun to get together with everyone!

I've been getting a lot done on a big project at work, which has really been interesting. I've learned a lot about our office and I get to re-organize which is always fun for me. I love organizing!

We're finally starting to put together our wedding album. I can't believe it took me so long to work on it, but we've been so busy with house projects. I'm really excited to be working on it, though, and can't wait to see the finished product.

The Yankees actually won their last two games, which is good, since yesterday was their home opener. I hope they keep it up. I know they often start out pretty low in the standings and that there are a ton of baseball games every year, but every time they do this it makes me a little nervous about the season. I'm sure they're just getting used to each other still, though and that they'll be fine. GO YANKEES!

Thank goodness for Billy Joel!
Unfortunately, it's been a long time since I've entered Staples Center without dreading the outcome of the night. Billy Joel allowed me to go to Staples Center and just have fun! I have to thank him for that. Although I've always loved Billy Joel and think he's always been amazing in concert, this concert was the best yet! I hope he does other tours so I can enjoy him again. If you're interested in seeing my review, check out my Kat Views blog.

The Kings really disappointed me yet again last night and it's getting pretty old. I'm ready to concentrate on baseball season and watch my Yankees as they play the Angels in the "Los Angeles" Angels home opener tonight.

GO YANKEES!!!

Let's go Yankees!
Here's to the shortest start in Barry Zito's career - given to him by my Yankees who had scored seven runs already in the top of the 2nd with only one out.

Thank goodness! I was worried when I saw that Johnson (who I wish the Yankees had dumped in the off season) was pitching today. I'm feeling a bit better about the first game.

I feel sorry for the Dodgers fans (especially those who were at the first home game of the season), but at least the Dodgers made a bit of a comeback in the bottom of the 8th and 9th and only lost by one run.

Happy opening day of baseball, again!

Baseball Opening Day
I had a weekend of icky migraines, but at least the Kings won on Saturday and I managed to get rid of my migraine enough to enjoy it! I saw the doctor today and got a couple new prescriptions I'll fill on my way home from the chiropractor. I'm glad that it worked out better for everyone that we not go to the Kings game tonight. David had to go home to let the kitties out after being locked up to have the stone done on our fireplace - I can't wait to see it when I get home, though the grout won't be done till tomorrow.

I wanted to wish everyone a happy opening day for baseball season! Here's hoping the Yankees do well on opening day. The Red Sox already won, which is a bummer, but it's a long season.

GO YANKEES!!!

GO KINGS GO!!!
