Happy Turkey Day!
Happy Turkey Day, everyone! We're staying up here rather than going to San Diego this year. It'll be my first year in Orange County for Thanksgiving - ever, I think. Definitely strange, but it'll be good to spend a Thanksgiving with David's family. We decided last year that spending holidays apart was ridiculous, so we started to alternate them. It's also good that we're not travelling for Thanksgiving, since we have so much to do this weekend. We're going to work on getting more of the house packed up and clearning out the room we have to refinish before we list the house. We're also going to look at some master bathroom ideas so that we can start to figure out what we want to do. There are so many options when you're tearing out everything that's already in the room. It's so much fun!
We're also seeing Caroline, or Change Sunday, which should be interesting. I love Angels in America (also by Kushner), but wasn't impressed by the Tony performance of Caroline, or Change.
Last night, we went to our favorite restaurant (
Cafe Tu Tu Tango's) last night and saw our favorite waitress (Clara) for the first time since we got engaged. Clara sat down with us for a while to get the whole story and the update on our engagement and the new house. Susana (I'm pretty sure this isn't spelled correctly), the psychic who does readings there, came over to see the ring and tell me that she does a special reading closer to the wedding day... They gave us an extra dessert with a candle in it and announced our engagement to everyone around Clara's section outside... It was so sweet! I am really going to miss being super close to Tu Tu's when we move. Sure, Anaheim isn't that far from Irvine, but it won't be just down the street any more and I'll miss that.
Okay, I've done enough babbling for now. Have a great Turkey Day!

New House!!!
Well, they finally accepted our offer! We signed our paperwork last night and escrow opens today. The house will require a LOT of work over time (new base boards, new paint inside and out, new carpet, totally redoing the master bath, perhaps taking a wall down, adding a half wall, adding a wall and some other improvements for the theatre room, redoing the wallpaper in the kitchen, modifications to the second bath upstairs, new door knobs, light switches, & ceiling fans, some changes to the back yard, etc.), but at least we can live with everything initially and take a bit of time to do the improvements rather than spending all the money at once.
I know we're a bit crazy to be moving and doing house improvements at the same time we're planning a wedding, but we've always liked a challenge.

House Frustrations...
ARGH! Buying a new (to us) house has been very frustrating! A year or so ago, we had it all figured out - we'd wait for Woodbury (a new neighborhood in Irvine) to be built and we'd buy our dream house. But, Woodbury is
way overpriced and the lot sizes are
TINY - not at all what we want. So, we've decided to look at houses that are 3-6 years old - they have all the rounded corners and other details we like in new houses and some of them have yards (for Southern California - still small by other standards). We've been negotiating with this one couple and I could just strangle them. I wish they'd just figure out what they want. At this point, it does not look like it'll work out, but they've had no other offers, so who knows - perhaps a month or so from now they'll start to consider moving out before their new house is ready or something and we can offer less money than we offered this time, since it's been on the market so long. *grin*
At least we now know when we're getting married. I have to work on getting my save the date e-cards out. At least we're having a really small wedding. That will make life a lot easier (it seems). It made finding a place that could hold the wedding and reception on a Saturday a bit difficult, but now that we've found the place everything else should be easier - only the maid of honor and the flower girls to deal with for dresses, etc.
If only I can make it through this week of negotiating junk. Tomorrow, interest rates will go up again, so our offer will be dropped or decreased at that point if the couple hasn't gotten their act together by tonight.
Hope everything is going well with all of you!
