We Leave Tonight!!
YES! It's finally here! Our annual NYC trip (with a stop in Philadelphia on the way) is here! What's funny is that this year we're going earlier than normal, so there's a shorter wait and it still always seems to take ages. I can't wait to see Rowan for the first time (and, of course her parents Becki & Neale)! James is going to meet us there and drive up to NYC with us. I can't wait!

There is always so much to do in the city and I will surely write lots about it when I get back. I'm excited about seeing friends & family, shows, my boys in their pint stripes for the first time in years, the Mogu store, Better Burger, the parks, and so much more! Have a wonderful last week of September!

Gilmore Girls returns!!
Gilmore Girls returned last night! For those of you who haven't seen it, Gilmore Girls is the story of a girl (Rory) with the mom (Lorelei) we all wish we had growing up. They have one of those great relationships where they can talk about anything and their fast-paced banter always makes me laugh. I'm so glad to have them back, even though we'll be gone for a week and away from all TV starting Friday. There is so much more to do in NYC than spend time with a TV. There will be friends & family to hang out with, musicals and plays to see, Yankees games (okay, just one) to attend, ...

I've been playing with downloads for my new phone a lot, too. I know, some people think they're just for making phone calls, but that's so boring! There are so many ringers available now that even have the words. So cool!

I'm releasing my first book into the wild with BookCrossing later today. I have a few prepared to take with me to realease in NYC, too. It's such a fun idea to track books you let go to see where they travel later in life. If you read a lot, you should definitely check out BookCrossing in addition to Page Turner's Anonymous, which I recommended in an earlier post. So many fun ways to amuse ourselves without spending a lot of money. Definitely a good thing.

TGIF
Glad that I made it to Friday! My hair is now much cuter and once I get my nails done tomorrow, I'll be prepared for the trip to Philly/NYC. I'm really excited about the nails tomorrow, since I'm going to try out Way Cool Nails for the first time. It looks amazing and if they last, I can definitely see me going there occasionally - especially for holidays.

Tonight, David and I are going to dinner and Wimbledon. I loved all the other movies they've done, so I'm sure this one will be great, too!

Tomorrow night, we're going to dinner with some of our group before seeing Rent for my 10th time. Yes, 10th. Okay, I'm obsessed with musicals - I admit it!

Sunday, we're seeing the Broadway-bound play Brooklyn Boy. (Not to be confused with the musical Brooklyn, currently running on Broadway, which we may see in a couple weeks during our annual NYC trip.) I hope your weekend is fun and exciting, too!

Page Turner's Anonymous
Page Turner's Anonymous is an online book club that Mel and Chris put together. I loved the idea as soon as Mel first mentioned it. If you like to read, check it out. Right now, we're voting on October's book. It's surprising when I think about how much I read and the fact that I've never been a part of an actual book club before outside of school. It's very good to have something that interests me today. I have this massive headache that does not seem like it's going away any time soon.

But, tonight I'm getting my hair done - finally! I know that it'll make my headache worse, but I've needed a trim/highlight for so long now. I did want to time the hair cut perfectly, though. I get to enjoy it a bit this weekend when we go out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. And next week is our annual NYC trip (with a stop in Philly on the way)!! So exciting - Rent (for my 10th time) on Saturday and a vacation just a week after that!

Joey?
Now that the end of the day is approaching, I find myself thinking about tonight's first episode of Joey. Will it be worth watching? Initially, when I heard about the idea, I have to say that I thought it would never work. It's not like Joey is the favorite friend, or the smartest, or... But, when I heard Paulo Costanzo (of 40 Days and 40 Nights, Road Trip, etc.) had joined the cast, I started to hope. When I saw the first ad (during the Olympics, of course, since I almost never watch live TV otherwise) for it, I laughed. I don't think it can be as good as Friends, but I do think that this could be a show worth the 20 minutes a week I'd spend to watch it (unlike Father of the Pride, which has already been removed from my season pass list in Tivo). Is anyone else crossing their fingers with me? Or does no one really care? With Will & Grace going downhill in the last couple seasons, I could really use a sit com that I really enjoy. If you watch it, enjoy and let me know your thoughts.

On a totally separate issue - my Yankees have been scaring me lately, but the last couple games have made me think that my boys are back in town. Apparently, they thought they deserved a break from playing and were just too comfortable at the top of the league. Now that Boston has closed in on them, they're starting to play again. I just hope that the team playing today is the team that shows up for the playoffs. The winning team is definitely the one I recognize. GO YANKEES!!!

Labor Day Weekend
Yippee! It's almost Labor Day weekend! Isn't it funny how as a kid, this weekend was dreaded and now that we work year-long it's seen as a wonderful long-weekend? I hope you all enjoy the last holiday we have till November. (Perhaps that's why my usual NYC trip month of October is so perfect... hmmm...)

This weekend, we're going to Cafe Tu Tu Tango's tonight (it's been a while since we've been to our favorite restaurant). Tomorrow, we're going to Orange County Mining Co. for David's real birthday dinner. It should be fun, since neither of us have ever been there.

Sunday morning, we're going to Peter & Sharon's wedding at Chart House in Dana Point, which I can't wait to see. Then, we're heading out to Mel's folks' place for a Labor Day BBQ. Other than a couple extra days to just relax, I can't really see how our weekend could get any better.

Enjoy your long weekend!
